Ushuru Sacco Loans 2026: Interest Rates, Multipliers and Fees for KRA Staff and Members

Ushuru Sacco Loans 2026: Interest Rates, Multipliers and Fees for KRA Staff and Members

Updated 31 October 2026

Ushuru Sacco, based at Ushuru Sacco Centre on Wood Avenue, Kilimani, Nairobi, charges 1% a month on a reducing balance for its Normal Development, Emergency and School Fees loans, and lends up to 4 times your share deposits. Its longest loan, Shujaa, runs for 120 months at 1.23% a month and lends 5 times deposits. Almost every loan has the same two charges: a 0.25% appraisal fee (minimum KSh 500) and a 1.5% RMF charge on the loan amount. All terms below come from Ushuru Sacco’s own BOSA and FOSA loan pages, checked on October 31, 2026.

Ushuru Sacco BOSA loans

Loan Interest (reducing) Max period Multiplier / limit Notes
Normal Development Loan 1% a month 72 months 4x savings First development loan; for cars, property, assets
Refinance (Development) Not stated 72 months Based on savings Extra funds to finish a project financed by a Normal loan
Emergency Loan 1% a month 12 months 4x share deposits, no ceiling Medical, funeral and even dowry costs
School Fees Loan 1% a month 24 months 4x share deposits, no ceiling School, college and university fees
Jongea Loan 1.16% a month 36 months Up to KSh 500,000 For new members under 3 months; Sacco finances the required deposits
Shujaa Loan 1.23% a month 120 months 5x share deposits High savers with tight payslips; KSh 5,000 monthly deposit contribution

The Sacco says the effective annual rate is 6.5% for the Emergency and School Fees loans and 7.6% for Jongea. These are the Sacco’s own figures. Monthly rates multiplied by 12 give a higher simple annual rate (12% and about 13.9%), so ask for the total cost of your specific loan.

Ushuru Sacco FOSA loans

Fees you should budget for

On a KSh 500,000 loan, the 0.25% appraisal fee is KSh 1,250 and the 1.5% RMF charge is KSh 7,500, so about KSh 8,750 is deducted before you get the money. The Sacco’s pages do not explain the RMF charge, so ask what it covers before you sign.

Here is our own estimate using a standard formula, not a Sacco quote. A KSh 500,000 Normal Development Loan at 1% a month over 72 months works out to about KSh 9,800 a month. A Shujaa loan of the same size at 1.23% over 120 months comes to about KSh 8,000 a month, but costs much more in total interest.
